Background of the Study
Plateau State has experienced challenges related to ethnic and religious conflicts that have affected the peaceful coexistence of communities. Broadcasting, particularly through radio and television, has the potential to play a crucial role in peacebuilding efforts by providing platforms for dialogue, promoting understanding, and disseminating messages of peace. This study explores how broadcasting can support peacebuilding initiatives in Shendam LGA, focusing on how media channels influence perceptions, foster dialogue, and contribute to community reconciliation.

1.2 Statement of the Problem
In areas affected by conflict, such as Shendam LGA, efforts to promote peace can be hindered by a lack of communication, misinformation, and distrust. Broadcasting offers an opportunity to bridge gaps by promoting unity, fostering understanding, and encouraging peaceful behaviors. However, the effectiveness of broadcasting as a tool for peacebuilding in Shendam LGA has not been fully explored. This study aims to assess the role of broadcasting in promoting peace and understanding in this context.
